Entry Forms for National Club Finals

Entry forms are now available for the National Club Finals, which are due to take place in Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT) on May19th/20th next.

Completed forms together with an A4 sheet containing thumbnails of the images, a CD of the images, and the appropriate fee should be sent to Deirdre Gaffney, 13 Ard na Mara, Malahide, Co. Dublin.

The closing date for entries is May 1st 2012.

Nature 2012 Results

Des Connors took the overall prize with his image 'Fish Presenting Display'.

Congratulations to Des Connors from Mid Louth Camera Club, who was declared the overall winner in the 2012  IPF National Nature finals over the weekend with his image ‘Fish Presenting Display’.

Congrats to all who reached the  national finals which took place in Westport on Saturday and many thanks to renowned wildlife and natural history cinematographer Colin Stafford-Johnson for judging this years competition.

Latest on National Nature Competition

Westport Leisure Park
The Finals of the IPF National Nature Competition will take place at the Auditorium of the Westport Leisure Park, James Street, Westport on March 10th, starting at 1PM sharp and finishing at approx. 4.30PM. The judge will be the renowned wildlife and natural history cinematographer Colin Stafford-Johnson. 
Directions to the venue as follows:
Westport Leisure Centre is located just off James Street, next to the cinema. Following the one way flow of traffic from the Tourist Office on James Street, it will be the next left turn before the traffic lights at the river.

Ricoh Competition

NATURAL HISTORY LECTURE

Robert hails from Banbridge in Northern Ireland and is widely recognised as the leading natural history photographer in UK and Ireland. Robert is the author of 7 books including:
• Close –up and Macro, a photographers guide
• The natural history of Ireland’s Dragonflies
• The natural history of Northern Ireland
• Orchids of Ireland

Robert has kindly agreed to give this lecture and he is hoping as many natural history photographers as possible will come along on the night so that he can meet them. This is a once off lecture; being held in the Glenside so that anybody interested in Natural History or just stunning photography can come along and see all these amazing images. Updated rules for National Club Finals

Please see below updated ruled for the National Club Finals, which are due to take place in Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT) on May19th/20th next.

The main change requires each club to submit a CD of the images (each 1024 by 768 pixels) entered in each panel in the competition in addition to the regular requirements – see rules for full details.

The closing date for entries is May 1st 2012.

Completed forms together with an A4 sheet containing thumbnails of the images, a CD of the images, and the appropriate fee should be sent to Deirdre Gaffney, 13 Ard na Mara, Malahide, Co. Dublin.

The fee for two panels is €35 and one panel is €20. Cheques should be made payable to the Irish Photographic Federation.

Full details of Print & Projected winners

Photographers from around the country gathered in Athlone Institute of Technology last weekend for what is one of the biggest competitive events in the IPF calendar.

Year on year photographers continue to raise the bar in this individual print and projected images competition run by the IPF and this year was no different.

The overall best image prize went to Richard Hatch (LIPF) from Mid Louth Camera Club for his image ‘A bleak dream’, which also saw him take first place in the advanced colour category.

Update on 2012 National Nature Competition

The IPF is delighted to confirm that the 2012 National Nature Competition will take in the Westport Leisure Park Auditorium in Co. Mayo on the 10th March.

Regional rounds have taken place in recent weeks and months and the final round will be judged by prominent wildlife documentary maker Colin Stafford Johnson.

Date set for National Club Championships

The date has been set for the 2012 National Club Championships, which return to the midlands this May.

This year’s National Club Championships will take place on May 19th & 20th at Athlone Institute of Technology.

This major weekend event will see clubs from around the country battle it out for the Rose Bowl and the honour of being named as the top photography club in the country.  There will also be a distinctions sitting over the two-day event.

Rules and entry forms for the National Club Championships will be posted soon, as will the full programme of events for the weekend.  Further details on the distinctions applications process will also be posted as soon as they become available.
