THE IRISH PHOTOGRAPHIC FEDERATION’S 27th NATIONAL AUDIO VISUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS & 2nd INTERNATIONAL AUDIO VISUAL COMPETITION

Report by Lillian Webb, AIPF.

The competition was held in Áras Chrónáin Ionad Cultúrtha, Clondalkin, Dublin, on Saturday, 19th and Sunday, 20th October 2009, hosted by the East Leinster Audio Visual Group.

The judge was Ian Bateman, FRPS, MPAGB, an internationally known Audio Visual judge and sequence author, and a winner both in analogue in the past, and now in digital.

Competitors came from Killarney, Kildare, Dublin, Shannon and Mallow and the attendees came from these locations plus Waterford, Wexford, Wicklow, Northern Ireland, and Birmingham!

The venue suited admirably and was also the venue for the meal on the Saturday night.  28 people attended the meal, and they were later joined by others for a traditional Irish music session!

Many thanks to all who helped in many ways from the East Leinster Audio Visual Group, Clondalkin Camera Club, who made the introductory sequence and displayed their prize winning panels, Ian Bateman for his photographic memory in recalling the sequences and making comments following the showing of each one, as well as showing his sequences on the Sunday.

Thanks also to the Royal Photographic Society Audio Visual Group for the donation of “The George & Doreen Pollock Medal” which is limited to only five major competitions worldwide this year.

Well done to Brendan O’Sullivan, who gained his AIPF, in Audio Visual on Sunday, 20th October – the first member of Celbridge Camera Club to gain both an LIPF and AIPF in Audio Visual.  Thanks to Brian Hopper, Distinctions Secretary and those who judged the distinctions applications.

Thanks to Mark Sedgwick, FIPF, EFIAP, President of the Irish Photographic Federation for presenting the awards, and to Richard Brown, FRPS, FIPF, EFIAP, for presenting “The George & Doreen Pollock Medal”.

Lilian Webb, AIPF, (Hon. Secretary/Hon. Treasurer), on behalf of Alan Lyons, AIPF, Frank Malthouse, LIPF, Kieran O’Loughlin, FIPF, ARPS, & Brendan O’Sullivan, AIPF.
