Ireland Wins 2009 Celtic Challenge
Written by John Doheny
Sunday, 27 September 2009

Mark Sedgwick, IPF PresidentDear IPF Member,

I am delighted to report that the IPF have just won this year’s Celtic Challenge, an inter-federation competition involving the IPF, the Scottish, Welsh, Isle of Man and Northern Ireland organisations. The event was hosted by the Welsh Federation in Llandudno, North Wales over the weekend. Des Connors won best Digital Projected Image with his superb shot 'Kingfisher' - well done Des.

I am particularly pleased as the IPF panels were only selected from the accepted images at the IPF Print and Projected Image Finals and from the winning monochrome and colour panels at the National Club Finals.  It is a sure sign that our standards have met the right target!  Hopefully this will encourage both you and your club members to participate in these events this season, knowing that you have a chance to represent not only your club but your country too!!

A special thank you to our panel selectors, appointed by Council, Dennis Whelehan, AIPF, EFIAP, Gerry Kerr, AIPF, Gabriel O’Shaughnessy FIPF, AFIAP, and of course Sean Casey, FIPF, EFIAP, MFIAP who travelled to Wales with the entry and brought back the good news.  The selection was carried out in front of the membership of Dublin Camera Club who enjoyed the experience so much that they have requested us to do the same next year!

The biggest thank you goes without doubt, to those whose work was selected.  They represented a broad swathe of our membership and are listed below.

Yours in Photography,

Mark Sedgwick, FIPF, EFIAP
