FIAP 37th Black & White Biennial 2026 – FIAP World Cup

Fantastic News – Ireland has been placed first in the work with our panel  and were awarded the FIAP World Cup.

AND, when you combine our scores from the 30th Colour Biennial and this Black & White Biennial we come out on top and are awarded the “Dr. Maurice Van de Wijer Trophy 2026” – which is a stunning achievement.

Our thanks go to all who submitted images for consideration and especially to those whose images were selected. These were:

Congratulations also to Seamus Costello who was awarded a FIAP Silver Medal for his image “Liam” and to John Sheridan who was awarded a Confoto HM for his image “Car Boy”.

All 10 of our images scored very well with a total of 134 points and with a coherence score of 55 (out of 60 – again, fantastic). This means that all 10 images will count as acceptances towards FIAP distinctions, each having scored more than 8 points.

The theme this year for our panel was “Environmental Portraits”.

Many thanks to the selectors: Suzanne Behan, Helen Hanafin, Dominic Reddin, Gabriel O’Shaughnessy and Paul Stanley. Thanks also to Gabriel O’Shaughnessy for printing the images and to PermaJet for their sponsorship of the paper and ink.

The official awards presentation ceremony will take place this August in Rio de Janiero as part of the FIAP Congress. Ireland will be represented there to accept the awards on behalf of all of our photographers.
