An update from Irish Photographic Federation National Audio Visual Group Committee – July 2015
IPF AV National Championships 2015
We hope you are all working on sequences for the above (remember you can enter previous sequences in the International section – and your new sequence in the nationals will also be automatically entered in this too – unless you specify otherwise).
Attached also are your entry form, rules and identification sheet. Like every other IPF national event, much preparation is undertaken and we would urge you to attend if you are submitting sequences as then you will see the standard and hear the judges’ advice. This year we are delighted to welcome Malcolm Imhoff, FRPS, FACI (M) & Maggie Imhoff as our judges. They judged externally at the AV Showdown in Shannon, 2013. They are both extremely well known in England and further afield for their audio visual sequences, judging and workshops. You will have an opportunity to see their work over the weekend. If you are thinking of going for distinctions, see rules. At present the committee are working on guidelines.
Aras Chronain is the venue once again and we look forward to returning. There will be an evening meal on the Saturday night and light lunches will be available on both days. There are hotels nearby including Bewley’s Hotel, the Ibis Hotel and Green Isle Hotel.
Andorra Trophy: This trophy is awarded for a club AV. We encourage you to consider putting in an entry – it requires a minimum of 5 club/society members – they don’t all need to take the photographs – but could be involved in the soundtrack, recording, editing, choosing of music, narration, script etc.
Humorous Trophy: In its second year, thanks to Ken Hemmingway for donating this trophy for the best humorous sequence – which will be awarded in any category.
Note: Sequences should not have been entered in previous IPF AV National Championships (but can be for the International). The author may enter in a category of his/her choice, providing they meet the requirements (see rules). All national entries will be commented on.
Subscriptions
If you have not received your membership card for 2015, it means you haven’t paid! In order to show your sequences for non-profit making purposes and enter the IPF and AV competitions, you must have a current copyright performance licence. The IPF AV Group holds an annual group licence – and it costs each member €15.00 (made payable to the IPF AV Group) and can be paid by post to Lilian or by Paypal to ipfavgroup@gmail.com
Successes
Congratulations to Brendan O’Sullivan, AIPF, whose “Lost Reflections” won the All Ireland at Ballyearl & a distinction at Trophee de Paris. Also to Alan Lyons for a distinctions workshop in Shannon – volunteered at very short notice when Richard Brown was unwell.
