IPF National Club Championships
The IPF National Club Championships is an annual inter club competition which is open to all clubs who are affiliated to the IPF.
This competition showcases the work of photographers from clubs all over the country. Each competing club may submit a panel of colour prints and/or a panel of monochrome prints. Note that only those clubs who enter both sections will be eligible for the overall award. The National Club Championships take place over a weekend in May and tend to coincide with the May Distinctions Sitting and the IPF AGM. Tension levels are usually very high, not surprising when there is an IPF Distinctions Sitting happening next door! The winning club is presented with the Sean Casey Memorial Trophy which was commissioned in memory of the late Sean Casey, founder member of the IPF. For a club to take home this trophy is the biggest honour in club photography terms in Ireland and provides a great atmosphere to be in.
Not sure what we mean when we talk about panels? Take a look at the gallery for this competition to learn more and take a look behind the scenes! Images must be printed, mounted and displayed on a display board provided by the IPF. Think of it as a mini exhibition!
We recognise the time and the efforts that clubs up and down the country give to panel selection, printing, mounting, and travelling and we hope that every photographer in every club also recognises this and supports the team involved at their own club with this task. Without these people, this competition simply could not take place. Thank you!
The Club Championships competition is for photographers competing at any level with a limit of a maximum of two images per panel per photographer. In other words, two images on the colour print panel and two on the monochrome print panel maximum per photographer.
Each panel is composed of ten prints and each individual image is judged by a panel of three international judges.
Judging itself is private, however, judges provide commentary on all panels prior to the awards ceremony.
There is link below is to the rules for the competition. The maximum mount size is 50cm x 40cm (20in x 16in). Prints can be surface mounted or window mounted
The entry fee is €75.
