The above took place in the Bailey Café Bar in Enniscorthy on Saturday, 14th June, hosted by Enniscorthy Camera Club. 35 attended from as far away as Bangor, Shannon, Waterford, Dublin and Kildare. This is the second year of the Showdown, which was initiated by Jeff Morris from South Africa. Last year there were 15 sequences – 5 each – from Shannon Camera Club, East Leinster AV Group and South Africa. This year there were 21 sequences – 3 each – from East Leinster AV Group, Shannon Camera Club, Enniscorthy Camera Club, Pretoria AV Group, Melbourne Camera Club AV Group, Camberwell Camera Club AV Group, Australia and AV Club of South Australia. The sequences were all judged by Robert and Maureen Albright in England, who sent comments to be read after each sequence. We were delighted to have a winner in Maureen Albright choosing Edwin Bailey’s sequence “A Sense of Autumn” as her judge’s choice and though there were no prizes for second place, Shannon Camera Club were the runner up AV Group.
Fifteen sat down to a meal following the Showdown and some energetic souls climbed to the top of Vinegar Hill afterwards! The next day, saw 11 taking off in a bus, which stopped for photographs at Johnstown Castle, Hook Head lighthouse and Tintern Abbey. A great way to socialise and enjoy the countryside. Thanks to Rosemary and Aidan and Christy and Bernie for providing a wonderful picnic at Hook Head.
