The deadline is nearing for applications for the 30th I.P.F. National AV Championship which take place this October! Applications are due by September 14th and full details are below …
All Ireland! This year we are having our 1st All Ireland Audio Visual Competition. All sequences entered into AV2012 are eligible to be included in the All Ireland section and unless you state so on your entry form, they will be considered by the judges. You are also invited to enter the All Ireland section with a sequence you have entered in previous AV Championships and we hope you will do so and have yours judged along with those of our fellow AV workers north of the border! So, come, participate and see other AV workers’ sequences! Attached also are your invitation, entry form, maps, rules and identification sheet.
As with every IPF national event, much planning and preparation is undertaken. We would urge you to attend if you are submitting sequences as then you will see the standard and hear the judges’ advice. We have very eminent judges, Marion Waine, ARPS, DPAGB, AV-AFIAP & John Rowell, ARPS, DPAGB, AV-AFIAPcoming from Wales. You will have the opportunity of seeing some of their prize winning sequences over the weekend and their approach to AV. Even if you have not entered, this is a great chance to see the work of the entrants and learn from the tips and advice given by our judges. We look forward to seeing you and your sequences and if you have never been before – we look forward to welcoming you.
Āras Chrónáin is the venue once again and we look forward to returning. They look forward to welcoming us – www.araschronain.com Maps – separate. There will be an evening meal on the Saturday night and light lunches will be available on both days. Some of the hotels nearby are:-
Bewley’s Hotel, Boot Road, Newlands Cross, Clondalkin. www.bewleyshotel.com Ibis Hotel Dublin West, Monastery Road, Clondalkin. www.ibisdublinwest.eurobookings.com Green Isle Conference, Leisure & Spa Hotel, off Boot Road, Clondalkin. www.greenislehotel.com The Louis Fitzgerald Hotel, Clondalkin. www.louisfitzgeraldhotel.com
Subscriptions. If I have not received your membership of €15.00 (made payable to the IPF AV Group) – in other words, you do NOT have a current licence, please forward this to me so that I can send you your membership card. We don’t want to lose you! Remember that in order to show your sequences for non-profit making purposes and enter the IPF and other AV competitions, you must have a current copyright performance licence. The IPF AV Group holds an annual group licence.
Andorra Trophy: This trophy, awarded for a club AV, was won last year after an absence of years. We encourage you to consider putting in an entry – it requires a minimum of five club/society members – they don’t all need to take the photographs – but could be involved in the soundtrack, recording, editing, choosing of music etc.
Distinctions. Should you wish to apply for your distinctions with the Irish Photographic Federation over the National Championships’ weekend, you need to have your application form, fee etc., in by 14th September to the National Distinctions Secretary, Bob Morrison (Bob can be contacted via our ‘Contact Page’ by choosing ‘Distinctions’ from the contact options) For an L.I.P.F., you need no less than 8 minutes of sequences, for an A.I.P.F., you need no less than 12 minutes of sequences and for an F.I.P.F., you need no less than 20 minutes of sequences. These can be made up of a number of sequences or one in the case of an L.I.P.F. For an A.I.P.F., and an F.I.P.F., you also need a 150 word submission.
Conference. Due to lack of numbers, this has had to be cancelled. It is hoped to have some time over the AV weekend to discuss some of the matters arising from the questionnaire over a general meeting.
SA v IPF. Discussions are ongoing with regard to holding an inter republic “battle” of AV sequences between South Africa and Ireland.
RPS International AV Festival. Should you wish to enter or attend this event in Cirencester, England, the closing date for sequences is 28th July and for accommodation 25th August. The festival is from 14th – 16th September. Further details from www.rpsinternational.org.uk
