The results for the FIAP Nature Biennial have been released and I am very pleased to let you know how Ireland did this year.
We entered a panel of 10 colour prints on the theme of “Insect Life”.
We were represented by the following:

- Mating Dung Files – Paul Tips
- European Garden Spider – Ailish Sands
- Pretty in Pink – Colette Gemmell
- Common Blue Butterflies – Mary Twomey
- Best of Friends – Vincent Higgins
- Grasshopper – Mary Kinsella
- Snipe Fly – David Triglia
- Bright Line Brown Eye Moth Caterpillar – Carla Ennis
- Nettle Weevil – Gerard Murtagh
Our panel scored 119 points – the greatest amount across all panels submitted.
However, a cohesion score is also added – we received 41 cohesion points , resulting in a total of 160.
This left us in third place receiving a FIAP Silver Medal – behind Italy who received 165 points and were awarded the FIAP World Cup and France on 162 points, who were awarded a FIAP Gold Medal.
The image from Paul Tips was awarded the top individual prize of a FIAP Gold Medal and the image from Malcolm McCamley was awarded a DVF Honourable Mention.
We also entered a panel of 20 digital images on the theme of “Birds in Action”.
We were represented by the following:

- A Mouthful – Rory O’Connor
- The Catch – Pascal Lee
- Red Necked Falcon with Babbler – Ita Martin
- European Roller Pair – Jill Crockett
- Snow Storm Buzzard – Kieran O’Mahoney
- Pipit Landing – Ross McKelvey
- Peregrine Falcon – Patrick Kavanagh
- Mouthful – Vincent Higgins
This panel scored 203 points and received a cohesion score of 45 giving us a total of 248 leaving us in fifth place and receiving a FIAP Honourable Mention. The winners were Canada on 255 points, 2nd place were Great Britain on 249 points, 3rd were France on 248 and 4thwere Belgium also on 248.
