An Invitation to all!
The 32nd Irish Photographic Federation’s National Audio Visual Championships & 2nd All Ireland Competition organised by the Irish Photographic Federation’s Audio Visual Group Committee and hosted by the East Leinster Audio Visual Group will be held on Saturday, 18th & Sunday, 19th October, 2014 at Áras Chrónáin Ionad Cultúrtha, Watery Lane, Clondalkin, Dublin 22.
The judge is Martin Fry.
Martin Fry, FRPS, AFIAP, AV-AVIAP, APAGB, BPE2* – The Cotswold lad
Martin is one of the leading exponents of audio-visual in Great Britain. His passion for AV stems from his love of photography and combining images, in particular the “magical” third image. He is a past chairman of Cheltenham Camera Club and is at the moment co-ordinating Cheltenham’s 150th year celebrations in 2015. Last year, the club honoured Martin with a Life Membership for his outstanding contribution over four decades.
He is also a committee member of the highly acclaimed Cheltenham International Salon of Photography and produces the AV for this event. A great deal of Martin’s audio-visuals are inspired by the beauty of his native Gloucestershire and the spectacular Cornish landscape. He feels audio-visual is such a creative medium, giving the image make the freedom to express ideas, share experiences or communicate a message through vision and sound.
For over a decade Martin has produced AV’s to accompany singer/songwriter Johnny Coppin’s Christmas Tour and this year with Johnny has staged a celebration to mark the centenary of Gloucestershire author, Laurie Lee’s birth. Martin gained his Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society in AV using 4 projectors and since the digital age has developed this art form. He has won major awards in Britain as well as numerous FIAP awards in 31 countries for both his still images and audio-visuals.
He has lectured to over 300 clubs across Britain and is well known as an International judge in all areas of photography, and a past member of both the RPS and PAGB distinction panels. Martin received an APAGB for services to the Midland Counties Federation in 2004 and the coveted Dobson Henry medal for Services to AV in 2013.
