The finals of the IPF National Nature Competition 2014/2015 took place on Sunday February 22nd in the Skyline Suite at Hotel Kilkenny. This year, we were delighted to recognise the support of Whites Pharmacy and Photo Centre Kilkenny in association with Fuji Ireland as sponsors of this event.
We are delighted to announce Michael Linehan of Celbridge Camera Club as the overall winner of the 2014/2015 IPF National Nature Competition for his image “Can’t get you out of my Head”.
IPF Vice-President Lilian Webb had the following to say about the event:
“As Vice President of the Irish Photographic Federation, it was my pleasure to represent the President and Council at the finals of the IPF National Nature Competition in Hotel Kilkenny on Sunday, 22nd February. Three nature judges of international renown judged the competition. They were Sandy Cleland FRPS AFIAP, Karen Berry FRPS AFIAP and Leo Palmer FRPS FPSA GMPSA EFIA, APAGB . Entries were judged in print and digital images under both open and themed sections. A vast variety of images were on display from all four regions around the country – ranging from tiny insects to giant polar bears, landscapes to birds, mammals to flowers. Many thanks to Whites Pharmacy & Photo Centre, Kilkenny in association with Fuji Ireland who provided vouchers for the winners in each section and the overall winner also received a pair of high powered binoculars to help them seek out their next nature subject. Irish Photographic Federation certificates and medals were also awarded. Irish Photographic Federation members from around the country witnessed the judging process. Much of the success of the weekend goes to the organiser, John Cuddihy, Kilkenny Photographic Society and his fellow members in the efficient way the day went. Not forgetting the enormous task Jason Town & Niamh Whitty had in recording all the scores and sorting out the prize winners.”
We are delighted to share with you the winning images below and pictures from the awards ceremony.
Competitors will receive their individual score cards via email this week. Lists of all winners and list of images retained (top 20 and tied per section) by IPF for potential use in international competition are available to download below. The list of images from this competition which are credited as Irish qualifiers for those pursuing AFIAP distinctions (note, these are not Irish acceptances) is also available below. The Natural World section is not eligible for qualification purposes as its definition is not FIAP nature definition.
