    Hi,
For a club in Dublin it is a long way to Westport for our members to see the entries in the competition, but with the internet I’d hoped to be able to see the entries here and so point out this site to our members… I am very disappointed that the only photographs here are two very small pictures that do not do the shots justice.
As the IPF Liaison Officer for our club (Offshoot PS), I want to be able to get members interested in these kinds of events, and let them see the quality of the work submitted. As it is, one of our members received an Honorable Mention and so I hoped to use this to build interest … but there is nothing here to interest them.
I think this is an opportunity missed – you have a presentation space here to not only all of the Irish clubs but the world, you’re representing all of us to the world, but there is nothing to show for it, nothing to draw in people and excite them.
I hope you will strongly consider my request that the IPF show the works that merit acclaim here on their site – we are missing out on so much by this omission.
    Yours,
    Gary Rowe

Despite a distance of over 220 miles from where I live, I travelled to the event. There was stunning images on display. Last year’s competition was smoothly run. Colin Stanford Johnson was knowledge not just on the subject of photography but also on the individual plants and animals. He correctly identified images which appear to have been set up (I think he was right) and marked accordingly.
Des Connors’s Kingfishers image was the undisputed champion of the day. The score of 19 out of 20 was richly deserved. It was nature photography at its best.
By the way, my image which did nicely in the projected category is not in the picture gallery.
Overall, the experience in Westport was both educational and entertaining.
