The Irish Photographic Federation in association with Canon held the National Club Championships 2023 on Sat 20th & Sun 21st May 2023 in Áras An Chontae, Mount St, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. A total of 25 clubs participated this year. The judges this year were Sue O’Connell FIPF EFIAP/d2 ARPS DPAGB BPE5* , Armando Jongejon FRPS, Peter Brisley ARPS.
We were delighted to be partnered up with our sponsors Canon Ireland who sponsored two great prizes, a Canon R8 Camera and a Canon Pixma Pro 200 Printer. Held over two days there was a brilliant display of photographs on both days with the Monochrome panels on display and judged on Saturday and the Colour panels on the Sunday.
The three judges gave comments at the awards ceremony on Sunday afternoon on all the panels that entered, and commended the high standard of photography that was on display. Following the judges comments the IPF President John Butler with Canon Representative Marek Biegalski presented the various prizes to both individuals and clubs who won the various prizes. Congratulations to all and especially to Drogheda Camera Club member Gabriel O’ Shaughnessy who won best print overall in the Championships 2023.
The running of the event was very much a team effort, thanks to my assistants Liam Beattie and Sheamus O’ Donoghue, Ita Pentony and Rory O Connor, The Judges Committee (Des Clinton, Paul Stanley and Gabriel O’ Shaughnessy), Bob Morrison, Brian Deering, Gerry Kerr, Mark Gorman (Webmasters) and finally to President John Butler for his support and trust that we would succeed.
