Dear Visitor,
Welcome to the Irish Photographic Federation website, our portal for all things photographic in Ireland. As I enter my fourth, and final, year as President I have taken some time to reflect on the past three years since I was first elected to the position. Since taking office in the Summer of 2007 we have introduced a number of initiatives to bring you, our members, a more relevant service and better experience when dealing with the IPF, including an improved Distinctions process including adjudication, certification and pins, the introduction of event coordinators, a reduced number of event locations, top level speakers and lecturers from around the world, and the inclusion of a wider range of event judges, ranging from as far away as Argentina.

We have also seen a return to our International entries being selected from the most successful images in our national competitions, and as a result an upswing in entries to these events and a big increase in the number of our fellow members representing Ireland. The heartening point to note too is that for a small island located out in the Atlantic, and on the edge of Europe, we have consistently found ourselves in or close to the top ten countries in the world. Our clubs too have achieved great results with Dundalk and Celbridge getting to 11th and 12th in the FIAP Clubs World Cup in recent years.
And we are not finished yet! Over the coming year we intend to introduce an upgraded and improved online experience for our members, the first part of which you see now. I know that the IPF has an exciting future ahead of it, with ever increasing club memberships and the great rise in popularity of photographic art.
I wish to thank sincerely all the volunteers who make this all work, whether you are the person who helps put out chairs on a club night or are a member of the National council. I would also like to offer my congratulations and best wishes for a successful term of office to our President Elect, John Cuddihy LIPF, of Kilkenny.
With best wishes in photography,
Mark Sedgwick FIPF EFIAP ESFIAP
President
