IPF Regions

The IPF is represented through 4 Regional Committees which act for and on behalf of the IPF at regional level. Regional Committees are an integral part of the IPF with responsibility for the promotion of the IPF, the advancement of its objectives and the delivery of delegated services at regional level.

Regional Committees operate under the authority and direction of the IPF and are established by affiliated members within each region.

Each region is entitled to one non-voting seat at Council to represent that region, with the member being Chair or Secretary of that region.

The IPF Mid-East Regional Committee was re-formed at the end of 2024.  The Counties of Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow form part of the Mid-East Region and encompasses about 20 Clubs. The membership of the committee is set out at the end of this note.

The primary purpose of the Regional Committee is to provide information on IPF and photographic events in the Region and to provide key resources to clubs.  The Mid-East Regional Committee is very active and is led by Louise Skelly, Clondalkin CC and Michael Davitt, Celbridge CC.  It also provides advice to clubs in relation to organisational matters and operational matters.

During the past year the committee organised a very successful regional round of the National Photography Championships which saw entry number double over previous years.

The committee has organised a series of meetings between all chairpersons and executive officers of the Clubs in the region in order to share experience and expertise.

The Regional Committee also provide a means for clubs to give feedback and suggestions as regards the operation of the IPF.  The MER committee also shares of information and knowledge of events and photographic opportunities and provides an opportunity for net-working and developing relationship between clubs in the MER region.

More recently the MER has undertaken a survey of relevant information from the MER clubs and which will provide the MER Regional Committee with the ability to tailor actions relevant to clubs in the future.

The North East Region was rejuvenated after the pandemic commencing with a Zoom meeting in November 2024. The purpose of this meeting was to form a committee that would actively promote the region and be proactive in encouraging greater participation of club members at both a regional and national level.

The region consists of 14 affiliated clubs, including 3 clubs from Northern Ireland. We hope to steadily increase this number.

At the initial meeting the appointed committee was as follows.

Chairperson: Freddie McCardle, Cuchulainn CC.

Secretary: John Lambe, Dungannon Cookstown CC.

Treasurer: Sandra Bowman, Cuchulainn CC.

Along with a representative from each of the 14 clubs.

In our first year we held the regional photography competition, hosted by Dundalk Photography Society. Due to the hard work put in by the committee we are delighted to say that we saw a large increase in entries from previous years plus regional entries being highly successful at a national level.

Our aim for the 2025/26 season is build on last year's achievements and to provide an enhanced range of activities for the region.

Based upon a questionnaire sent to all clubs, we have started to formulate a program of events to meet the requirements of our members.

This will be a mix of the following:

  • Zoom presentations,
  • Workshops,
  • Club meet-ups,
  • Guided tours of larger towns (architecture, street photography etc).
  • Landscape days.

The list is still a work in progress and will continue to grow through time.

We in the Northeast region. Look forward to an exciting season to come!

The Southern Association of Camera Clubs (SACC) is the region of the Irish photographic Federation (IPF) covering the south of the country from Arklow to Clare.

The SACC has a history which precedes the formation of the IPF of which it is now a regional component. Annually, it arranges an interclub competition and is also responsible for holding the regional rounds of IPF national competitions.

In addition to running both its own competitions and regional qualifying rounds of IPF national competitions, the SACC is responsible for providing a means of communication between clubs in the south of the country.
