We are delighted to announce that The Irish Photographic Federation has won the 2016 Celtic Challenge Competition held on October 15th in Porthcawl, Wales. In addition to the overall victory, we are also thrilled to share the news that Best Colour Print went to Paul Reidy for ‘The Reading Room’ and Best Projected Image went to Morgan O’Neill for ‘Falling Apple’! Congratulations both.
The Celtic Challenge is an annual international photographic competition between federations from celtic nations and it’s been seven long years since our name was last on the trophy. We are thrilled with the result! The Scottish Photographic Federation took the runner up spot this time around. There is as usual a huge thank you due to those behind the scenes who put so much effort into making our entry possible and particular thanks are due to Denis Whelehan for this efforts this year. Congratulations to all the photographers whose images featured on the IPF panels.
Sincere thanks also to the Welsh Photographic Federation, this year’s hosts, who took on the challenge of running the competition itself in Porthcawl. We know from our own experience that this event and the amazing hospitality around it takes endless hours of preparation and time, usually by a very small group of people. Well done to all involved! The competition judge was Martin Fry from the UK.
