Overall the venue was very good. The display area for the panels was just about large enough for the numbers involved. There was a foyer area which allowed people to congregate whilst allowing the judging to take place without interference. Following the judging we were able to expand into the foyer area, which improved the viewing area for each panel.
For the first time this year we projected an image of each panel onto the wall whilst the judges were making their comments. This meant that everyone was able to see a version of each panel and each image. Even though they may not have been of the best quality and suffered slightly due to the ambient light, I feel that it was successful and should be continued each year. We should also consider doing the same for the Club Finals.
The Photography Ireland 2011 yearbook was also launched as part of the event.
My thanks go to all who assisted in the smooth running of the event, especially to all the members of SatSun and their committee including Rose Kearns and Colm Reilly; to Sarah Nix and Rosemary Sedgwick for assisting with the collating of the results; to Willie Farrell and Sean Casey for the launch of the yearbook; to Mark Sedgwick for presiding at the presentation ceremony.
