Club Championship Weekend 2017 Promises a Great Line Up!

April 4, 2017 by Niamh Whitty Leave a Comment

Mark your calendars for a weekend of highlights this May! The Irish Photographic Federation National Club Championships 2017 will be held on the weekend of the 13th and 14th May in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath in association with Seamless Photography.

Studio demonstrations, distinctions, a social evening with dinner and that’s just Saturday’s line-up this year at the IPF Club Championships Weekend. We will also have the IPF AGM, a guest speaker, judges comments, and of course, the awards ceremony where we find out if Drogheda Photographic Club can retain the Sean Casey Memorial Trophy!

National Club Championships 2017

TROPHYDrogheda came out victorious in 2016, can they retain this title again in 2017. Will some new kid on the block come in and prove their mettle? Will some of the consistent performers win it by a nose? We know it will “photo finish” (pun intended!!!)

Monochrome prints will be on display from 10.30am until 5pm on Saturday. Colour prints will be on display from 10.30am until 4.30pm on Sunday.

The entry system may be accessed here.  First step is to register your details, once that has been approved you will be able to upload your entry.

The entry fee is €75 and this competition is open to all clubs who are in good standing with the Irish Photographic Federation.

Closing date for entries will be Saturday, 6th of May.

This years judges are:

  • Barbie Lindsay MPAGB EFIAP/s FBPE
  • Adrian Lines MPAGB EFIAP FBPE ARPS
  • Armando Jongejan BMK FRPS

You can reach competition co-ordinator Darragh via our contact page and selecting IPF Club Championship from list of available options.

Please read the updated rules carefully and take particular note of where identifying stickers on the back of prints should be located.

fiapFIAP Distinctions

FIAP Distinction awards will be presented at 3.30pm by the IPF FIAP Liaison Officer Paul Stanley.

Awards Ceremony

The awards ceremony will start at 4.00pm and and there will be high tension as we wait to find out how will win the Sean Casey Memorial trophy.

May Distinctions Sitting

Nervous but exciting, the distinctions sitting will see photographers submit for three levels of assessment: Licenciateship, Associateship and Fellowship. Some of the work represents many years of carefully developed style and mastery, a joy to see. There will be beautiful photographic work on display and you can’t help coming away from a distinctions sitting with fresh ideas about photography and inspiration for your own creative projects. Best of luck to all the entrants preparing their work. The distinctions sitting takes place on Saturday May 13th at Mullingar Arts Centre (just around the corner from the Club Championships venue!). Associateship panels will be adjudicated first, followed by fellowships and concluding with licentiateships.

Studio demonstration

Our sponsor, Seamless Photography, will be demonstrating portrait/studio photography with their own line of studio equipment. There will be an expert on hand to chat about gear as well as demo some tips and tricks with a model. Seamless Photography provide high-quality photography equipment and photo presentation products at reasonable prices, specialising in fashion and portrait photography gear. From small accessories to fully equipped studio solutions, Seamless has something to offer photographers of every level.

Saturday Dinner

We are looking forward to meeting old friends and hopefully a few new ones too at dinner on Saturday night in the beautiful Annebrook House Hotel. Dinner is intended to be a relaxed affair, and will be from 8pm. To book your place, please fill out the reservation form now. The price is €25 per person for three course meal and if last year’s meal at this venue is anything to go by, we’re in for some wonderful food!
