John Wilkinson, AIPF, Carnew, and a member of Enniscorthy Camera Club.

July 30, 2020 by Gerry Leave a Comment

John was 95 in April.  His fellow camera club members kept in touch with him regularly especially in the last few years, visiting, when he was unable to get out and about.  Up to recently he had been commuting locally on his electric bike.  John was a fund of information and as a fellow Audio-Visual worker said – a great conversationalist – and a joy to be with at the Audio Visual championships and dinners over the years.  He had a varied life and recorded in writing many of these.  He made Audio Visuals for many years and showed these to many local groups as well as entering the IPF National AV Championships and made the move from analogue to digital.

The Council of the IPF awarded John Honorary Life Membership at the Council meeting on 12th April, 2014 and he was presented with the Brendan Walkin medal in Aughrim on 13th July, 2015 as in the citations.

Though I didn’t know his wife Molly, he always spoke about her and how he missed her.

The IPF Council wish to sympathise with his sons, Cyril, Richard and Denis and his daughter Mary as well as his grandchildren Molly and Reuben and all his wider family and his wide circle of friends especially in Enniscorthy Camera Club and the IPF AV Group.  Our thoughts and prayers are with them and we will all miss him.

Lilian Webb, AIPF, ARPS.
National Secretary,
Irish Photographic Federation.
