FIAP Biennials

Every year F.I.A.P. ( the International Federation of the Photographic Arts) hold international competitions in which Ireland is always well represented but, we could do better ! One of the criteria on which each countries’ competition entry is judged is cohesion and such cohesion can be achieved through the use of a theme. The themes for the F.I.A.P. biennials to be held in 2011 and 2012 have been chosen and are as follows;
2011 Biennials………………………..Theme
Colour Print………………………….”Coastal Ireland”
Projected Images………………..”Movement”

2012 Biennials………………………….Theme
Monochrome………………………………”Irish Environmental Portraiture”
Nature………………………………………”Peatland Ireland”

The reason for announcing the themes so far in advance is with a view to building a comprehensive bank of images from which Ireland’s entry to the various F.I.A.P. Biennials would be chosen and as an added incentive to get everyone involved, a new award scheme has been announced. At all the I.P.F. National Competitions including the upcoming Shield special awards will be presented for the images which best reflect the chosen themes and the authors will be invited to submit their work to be considered for inclusion in the Irish F.I.A.P. entries.
How satisfying and rewarding it would be to have one’s image picked, not only to represent one’s country but also to be exhibited in such a prestigious venue. So get your brain in gear and start taking those photographs and good luck to everyone.
